So I am a college graduate who recently got accepted as an analyst into a trade company. I'm not a US-citizen, I do posses temporary legal work authorization but I need company sponsorship for a special type of work visa called H1b to further my legal work status. I was officially extended an offer last week, and a few days ago I sent an email to their VP, who was my last round interviewer and who approved my candidacy, to ask if the company is willing to sponsor my work visa. I explained in detail my current situation and how the work visa thing works. I didn't receive a response for two days till yesterday morning, a short email sprung into my iphone notification reading “your job offer was rescinded because you are unable to work legally in the US.”
I was outraged since that couldn't be further from the truth. I currently do have legal work status to work for any company in the US until late this year, which I explicitly explained in my previous email. This guy obviously didn't read my email carefully and he rushed to rescind the job offer for a 100% fabricated reason. I immediately emailed back apologizing and attaching a photo of my proof of eligibility to work in the US, and now I'm still waiting to hear back from him.
It felt that this guy not only misread my email but also treated job offers like some kids game—I know job rescissions do happen, but you don't rescind a job offer when you don't even have a full picture of the situation, and needless to say he totally misunderstood my email. I even indicated my need for future visa sponsorship in my initial job application, which he definitely had read. I was bitter, depressed, and indignant, but I couldn't do anything. The past few months of job search has been a hell like experience, and I was so elated that I eventually got a job offer, but it instantly slipped away. There hasn't been another time where's I'm so fervently opposed to the job system, capitalism, and incompetent and stupid recruiters. But I finally become sympathetic with the antiwork movement and those who want to tear down this system.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
