Company threatening to hold me back due to my hairstyle.

I’m a mid-20’s M working in a financial institution. I’m getting married at the end of this year, and I have decided to start growing my hair out longer. My fiancé is very supportive of this, and she has expressed her liking for my new style. I wash my hair several times a week, and typically style it on a daily basis. Occasionally, I will wear my hair up in a small bun to keep it out of my face while working. I work in a cubicle setting and have little to no interaction with more than 10 people a day within the organization. I do my work, and have shown the ability to do my job exceptionally well. I’ve gone through several promotions in the time I’ve been here and they have treated me well prior to this. I’m torn on what I should do.

Handbook excerpt: “… you are expected to present a clean, neat, and tasteful appearance. You should always dress and groom yourself according to the requirements of your position…”

TLDR: Upper management is threatening to hold back my progression within my company unless I cut my hair.
