Found a sales job for a laptop subscription company. The job is quite simple. Open up shop, wait for customers to come until end of shift. Due to the majority of people wanting to actually own instead of subbing for hardware (me included), most of the time I was basically just sitting there waiting for the day to end with the occasional customer interested in out stuff, and the pay is quite good. But when my manager came, he told me that I have to do some telemarketing stuff as well to bring in more customers. I have to share ads from their FB pages and contact random numbers asking if they are interested in our service. I don't mind if customers come up and ask me questions about our service I have no problem explaining to them, but I'm not a big fan of actively reaching out to random people to promote stuff since I know a lot of people don't like some random dude calling you just to advertise some product. Not to mention during the interview I was told that these are for part timers, or “agents/agency” as they called them, and me as a full timer will just be dealing with the physical store and customers. Aside from the weird marketing schtick, I don't really have any problems with the job. Any advice to help me deal with this?
