How many of us went into the STEM field with the goal of helping people with technology, only to find ourselves developing addictive algorithms, bullshit consumer products, or weapons for the military? Of course there are lots of people in STEM working on worthwhile pursuits, but the reality is that the vast majority of “innovation” happening in the private sector will be of no benefit to society whatsoever, and in a lot of cases, will actually harm it. Pointless STEM jobs can fuck right off.
