A recent example of employer entitlement

I was sat in the pub watching the football (unlucky Boreham Wood) with a couple of friends last night when one of them blurted this out. “Can I ask you guys something? If you were offered a promotion without a payrise what would you say?” I said “I'd laugh in their face.” He said “I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that's completely out of order. A FTSE 100 company not even willing to do the basics. I asked for a grand pay rise for it, I'm underpaid as is.” It's been playing on my mind since. I mean the gall of it, asking for the additional responsibility and work for free to someone's face.
