Doing training without showing proof of employment eligibility?

Hello all, I figured this was the best place to ask about this. I start training for a new job tomorrow working as a receptionist for a nail salon. Last week, I filled out a form saying where I attend school, previous employment, etc. but I realized they never asked for my I-9 or any official government documents, forms of ID, etc. Basically my question is, is it unwise to go through training without giving them these documents? I’m a broke college student and I’m just wondering if they may pull something saying training was unpaid. It only occurred to me now that it is interesting I would begin training without having those forms, but I have limited work experience besides campus jobs so I wasn’t sure if I was being overly paranoid. Thanks everyone!
