Most annoying back handed job offer I’ve ever had

Throwaway just in case, but goddamn do I need to vent. I just had the most annoying, frustrating job offer. I have a specific skillset in a small, but saturated field. I applied to a company back in December. Didnt hear anything for two weeks, so I went back to the company's website and filled out a second form. That got my application noticed and I had an interview two weeks later. I felt it went alright, but not great. I was told they'd get back in a week, which did not happen. I sent an email asking if they had made a decision and al least thanked them for an interview. I didnt hear anything for two months. I finally got an email yesterday saying they “are interested preparing an offer letter” for an on call position. Note, this is not the job I applied for, which was a full time position based entirely in one city. Now, an on call job in my field is not ideal. There is a lot of travel involved, so hopefully you go to a site for a while. Not this job. Nope, it was two week stints at a time with only a week or two notice. On top of that, I would only be offered jobs that included travel reimbursement. So, I might work two weeks and have to wait a month until I got another one. Oh, but its ok because I can pick and choose which jobs I actually take. The pay, while reasonable for my experience and the field, is totally unsustainable when only working two weeks at a time.

TL;DR: Company bait and switched jobs on me and the one they offered is inconsistent employment at best.
