McDicks

I just went back to McD’s after 3.5 years having been gone. I had worked on and off for a couple of years in my home town as a teen. Turned back to them when I was going to college elsewhere and they were more than accommodating. Made me shift manager, got tuition assistance. I actually loved working for them. I gave up the gig once I graduated college and got a career in my degree. Moved states for promotion with said career. Inflation hit hard (and student debt) so I decided to part time with McD’s on the weekends. Saw the sign for “up to $15 an hour” and I negotiated $12 and then maybe management down the road (6 years overall experience). I was looking to get out of my shell in this new place, get some exercise, and just do something I’m good at and familiar with.…

I just went back to McD’s after 3.5 years having been gone. I had worked on and off for a couple of years in my home town as a teen.

I was looking to get out of my shell in this new place, get some exercise, and just do something I’m good at and familiar with.

Talk of management came up, but they wanted me to tack on another night on top of my full time job. I asked what I would be paid. “More than you do now… how much do you get paid?”

$12. gasp
But I work like I’m worth that.
Pick up my paycheck this week and am now being paid $10.50.
Apparently I was never supposed to be paid the promised $12.

I quit.
