Was working 60 hours a week, got a burn out – reorganisation – kicked out – new job with a higher position – 16 hour work week..

1,5 years ago I was working in a company that was crushing. It was TOO much. I was working on 10 to 25 projects at the same time with 0 experience working such projects and no support (especially after covid hit). I was just left behind a computer screen completely lost and to figure it out with no training and an unfair workload.. 6 months later I was burned out. Then I was called into a mandatory meeting and told I was sacked with the rest of the department due to reorganisation. I was so happy! No more stress from this ridiculous job, but I did need to find a new job.. I found one within a week but I was so.. SO!!

SO!! Bored that I quit after a month thinking I was going to get a burnout from low workload instead lol. (It was mandatory to be in the office, after reading news for 7,5 hours a day you’re done..).

Then I got offered this job on a higher role than the first company.. purely terrified by the prospects of workload I wanted to reject, but decided to hear them out.

The offer scared me shitless and I told them I needed 2 weeks to consider everything and then eventually accepted the offer.

I’m getting paid 40% more netto than at my previous very stressful job and am also provided with a car and gasoline that I can use for whatever I want to. Additionally I am no longer salaried but hourly with a minimum salary of 40 hours a week.. Any additional hours are premium and my workload is literally about 16 hours a week and I am told daily how impressed they are with my work.. loI. I go to the office 2 days a week to make small talk and today I cleaned my entire house as I I was working from home with NOTHING to do since I finished my workload for the week, then waited till 5 as I had a deadline for someone said thanks for your email and that was it.

Week done, clean slate for Monday.

I have to add. The job I hold has a lot of responsibilities, it’s heavy and it’s not a typical job you learn in business school or whatever. But it is a big field with few people experienced in it so it’s niche. Even 5 years ago I could have never expected myself going this direction but here I am..

Anyway. Long story short. If your boss does you dirty, find something better. You deserve it!
