So I was hired recently at a hotel chain and it was kinda a Chinese parade level of red flags in less than a week in but the three co workers I got to know first are super awesome and fun people. One of whom is a older black woman who usually worked at another property and was just filling in at the one we were at til I was fully trained. We were talking about hiring and she had been at the company a few months now..she said the initial post she applied for had an pay listed at 18 hr and then when she was hired they changed the listing and said the pay was 14. I got offered the 18 after I told them the only thing holding me back from accepting was the 14 on the job post I applied on and they came back with the 18 rate within an hour and cited a recent budget increase. Turns out I'm not the only one getting the 18 off the bat but my co worker and her one other black co worker are still at the 14 rate. I quit because the red flag parade at my hotel but she likes the property she works at, I wanted to ask here if anyone knows what approach she should take to the pay rate if she were to write an email asking for the same pay. I told her to go through the company mail and just say she knows the pay has increased for new hires and she would like hers to match and then when they reply forward the reply to her personal email along with a screen shot or picture and if the reply seems discriminating proceed from there..am I missing anything?
