I see places so desperate for employees, normally finding any job is easy for me, I work hard, I just can't hold work due to being disabled and never having accommodations met or arranged due to their problems. I have two simple accommodations; same set schedule that does not change unless I am told weeks in advance, and to not be put up front with customers as I am frequently abused by them and can't take it.
I am disabled and need to schedule my treatments, can't do that when the work schedule changes erratically each week. I just want the same set days and hours so I don't have to panick and cancel therapy because the schedule changed last minute.
(Employers are not as good about these things as you think, they will go out of their way to not accommodate you.)
I'm aware that businesses are doing this on purpose, they keep their staff stressed and over worked, refusing to hire more people because they are cheap. They are grinding people into dust.
But now I can't find work, I'm aware the economy is collapsing, I'm aware society is collapsing, but I don't know what to do. I can't be homeless again. I have no family or friend support systems. No one to move in with. I have voucher housing and even this is now in jeopardy because I can't secure income, nor can I receive disability due to being declined 3x and being unable and too broke to afford a lawyer.
I just got mislead recently, a job hired me and I passed the drug screen. I was told I'd be taught everything on the job and I'd start immediatley. A month goes by and I'm filling out paperwork via email each week, waiting to start, because they take their sweet time getting back to me, only to be told I need to pay to get my CDL among other things before I can even start. I got mad and told them “you didn't say anything about that during the interview and when you hired me!”
I am now too pissed off to even go forward with paying to take a test on something I know nothing about and hope for a liscense.
Not just that but a restaurant posted lies about their wages on indeed, boasting $25/hr with $1000 sign on bonus! The catch was then hesitantly revealed verbally that you made $5/hr and possibly tips, UP TO $25/HR. and the sign on bonus was a big “IF” IF YOU LASTED 1 YEAR INTO THE JOB.
I called them out on it, and refused to work there. I am so tired of employers lying about shit to tempt gullible or desperate people.
