I'm currently working on a project under a lot of pressure with limited people and budget to support it. Destipe my attempts to solve it with the resources I have, there are just some things we cannot do. My manager just called me today to let me know that some department leads are saying I'm inflexible and perceived as a “no person”. He also added he understands the constraints but “it's a matter of optics” suggesting I handle the situation and communicate in a different way. The problem in my mind is that I'm producing the thing. it's clear we cannot make the thing without resources but somehow “my development is being held back” because of my honesty when communicating. I'm so overwhelmed right now I do not know what to do. I thought about having a 1:1 with these people but I don't want to sound confrontational as it will just add to the mix. help?
