calling people on rememberance day

So where I live most people get today off to remember fallen soldiers and those we have lost due to service . In our group chat this morning our owner told us we should be calling customers today and informing them on up coming sales ….I honestly find this in such poor taste and feel like it's rude ….I want to say something to the owner in the chat but also don't want to be fired … Not sure what to do
