Back when I was interviewing around for jobs, I interviewed at a big name hotel chain. On top of having had to wear a suit everyday to work to a job that I know was going to pay minimum wage, I decided to ask a question or two, even though I knew I was turning it down.
Talking to the manager, I asked what their benefits were like. He said that most of the employees made little enough pay-wise so that they actually qualified for Medicaid and Food Stamps, so that was like having benefits.
I wish I had a witty response, but I just shook his hand and felt terrible for the woman working the front desk.
