Boss says that we should come to work sick so they can send us home instead of calling out

Tell me how the fuck that makes sense? So, I’m the only person on the team who takes the bus to get to work. It’s an hour and a half, maybe two hour bus ride. If I am puking my guts out, I’m expected to board the bus and ruin anyone’s day who decided to take it, because my employer doesn’t accept doctors notes and won’t believe me if I call out sick? Is that even legal?
