Next time you decide to take a day off without 2 weeks notice, don’t bother coming back

This happened quite a while ago when I was a very young adult, but it was one of the very few times I walked off the job. I had just been hired at a pallet recycling yard and had been there one day when I received news of a terminally Ill family member. The next day before my shift, I walked into the supervisors office and told them I needed to take the afternoon off but that I could work the morning. The supes response “Well I’ll allow you to do this just once, but if you ever ask for time off without proper notice, don’t bother coming back”. So I said “thanks for the warning, don’t worry I won’t ever do it again” and then just walked out the door, grabbed my things and left the yard and never returned. I honestly don’t even remember if I got paid…

I honestly don’t even remember if I got paid but man did I dodge a bullet with that place.

I to this day cannot understand how people think it’s ok to behave like that.
