Hey, folks. I get emails from my manager fairly often (one is too many from him). I work in a clinical position in a hospital. The “mispunch assignment” is an assignment he makes us do where we tell him why our clock punches were somehow irregular (e.g., didn't take a lunch, clocked in late, etc.); we write in a book, sign it ourselves, and have a charge nurse sign it. We have to give him the number of mispunches, what it was, and what we plan to do to ensure it doesn't happen again. Note: the only changes I've made to this is redacting names and formatting so it looks more like the email.
[emotionally-wrecked], one of the purposes of the mispunches assignment is for you to specifically know what the expectations are so that you can meet them. For example, several of your action plans related to mispunches have included statements like “I will sign the book” or “I will have the charge nurse sign the book”. I also see that you have been referred back to “read the instructions” again for the mispunches assignments several times.
For this specific assignment you have 3 mispunches:
No lunch needs to be signed by you
No lunch needs to be signed by the charge nurse
Absent/Suspended for letting your licensure lapse – your action plan for this from your corrective counseling was due on 11/7/22. When will you be turning that in?
Once again, please read the instructions for this assignment and resubmit. Here is a specific bullet point which should help you get your mispunches count correct:
[Bullet] There are hyphens in front of each MISPUNCH. Even if the mispunches are for the same shift, you need to count each HYPHENATED item as it does take time to FIX that mispunch. The Mispunches are also in RED ink.
If you are being detail-oriented you could actually count 4 hypens and call me out on that as I used one as punctuation
Some expectations:
Sign all your no lunches. You should have recently done a [corporate education] assignment which notified you that in addition to the unit expectations, you also need to sign, and have the charge nurse sign the new “missed meal break certification” form in the front of the payroll exceptions book for any shift 5 hours or over that you did not take a lunch on.
The charge nurse needs to sign all of your no lunches (and also the new “missed meal break certification” form)
I am not certain how you can both “I don’t remember not taking a lunch” and “[supervisor higher than him] sent me home before I take my lunch” at the same time. Which leads to expectation # 3
[3.] The charge nurse is in charge. You need to check with our charge nurse to see if our unit needs you before you go home. This would be the time where you have the charge nurse sign off on your no lunch.
