I’m not allowed to send someone home after they found out there aunt had passed away?

So one of my employees comes in from her break and says she needs to talk to me when we slow down. Well, she informed me that she just received word that her aunt had passed away. So immediately after I go and find one of my bosses ask her about bereavement leave and how it works, etc. I gather what information I was told, then I told my boss, “if she’s not feeling well or if I feel she’s not gonna make it I may send her home early.” She responded with a very firm “no your not”. Note that I am a lead and she is my employee. The boss that I talked to is only in charge of my department when my boss isn’t there. How? How does it make sense? If one of my aunts passed away I wouldn’t want to be at work? Granted my…

How? How does it make sense? If one of my aunts passed away I wouldn’t want to be at work? Granted my employee is taking it okay, but I just made the statement as a just in case scenario. I can’t believe I got shut down. Care about your employees please, that’s all I was trying to do. Just aggravated and needed to rant so thanks for listening to my Ted talk.
