The endless humiliations of working in Kroger's store don't just start with cutting the hours for the workers but extend to the way the customers are reacting to the empty shelves and higher prices.
Today I had a customer come up to me and ask why there were so few workers in the store. The pharmacy was not opened for posted hours, the shelves were bare in many areas, and the deli was closed.
A customer decided that now was the time to act and questioned me about the staffing problems. When I told them that Kroger's could not find anyone to work they simple said this to me, “if no one wants to work anymore, then you should be working harder!”
My jaw dropped… how could anyone say that to a person making minimum wage?
This is exactly why no one wants to work anymore, the customers make the life of the workers a living nightmare, while the workers don't make enough money to live.
