Taco Casa Experience.

Food and restaurant jobs are the worst. Let me explain. I had my first job when I was 18. I worked at Taco Casa. Many of you don’t know but I have autism and a couple other things. I was so happy to get the job but that changed very fast. First day I was already struggling due to heat and not having water with me at all times. When you are working in a environment with open ovens and cookers it’s going to be hot. I would have been ok if I had easier access to hydration. The manager didn’t put up the fans until I started to lose consciousness for the second time. I was fainting because of dehydration and heat. I have Chronic dehydration. I need water constantly. The only way to drink water on the job was to drop everything and take of your gloves and go to the back of the kitchen to get like 5 sips. The problem was is if you kept getting a drink the manager would probably get upset because it slows down work. I ended up not drinking enough water in fear of losing my job. Not only do you need to know every task you need to be able to do multiple at once. Like serving customers, cleaning and taking out the trash at the same time in a timely manner. Not only was I literally fainting and having seizure like activity my feet were also on fire 24/7. I also have planters fasciitis which isn’t fun especially when you have to run around and stand 8 hrs a day. I was in pain. The pain turned from physical to mental. I went to the back of the store and broke down crying. My manager walked up to me and said. “If you can’t suck it up and work I’m letting you go.” I tried my best. I worked till I was in pain but I’d still get told I wasn’t doing things fast enough even though I thought they would be proud of my work I accomplished in the time given. It was hell. Not only did the manager fire me because I cried in the back but she also told me to suck it up. She said things that day of me being fired that brought up old Trauma. She barely even helped out. She was in her office almost all the time. My boyfriend also worked there with me. He was their best employee. He stood up for me but got fired immediately. When I got home I had a mental break down. I was depressed for a week. My boyfriend helped me get myself back up. That job was traumatic for me.
