Started working at this place almost a month ago now, and it's been hell ever since the first day. I've been waiting for it to “get better”, but it never does. High stress environment with pay that doesn't match the workload. They've scheduled me to work 6 out of 7 days this week. I contacted them and told them that I cannot work more than 5 days a week (even 5 is too much for me, but I need the money to survive and wanted full time benefits). They said ok, they'll look into it. I got a message today saying that I need to come in for that 6th day for additional “training”, AKA we are understaffed and need an excuse to try and force you to come in and do work you've already been trained to do. I told them once again that I can only work a maximum of 5 days a week, because I need 2 days to do chores, get groceries, and spend time with my family (and I communicated this clearly in my interview as well). They said ok, they'll look into it. Now I understand why they are so understaffed. Why do employers exploit their workers like this? I'm so fed up. I'm probably quitting as soon as I get my first paycheck next week and going back to my old job. Gotta survive somehow. At least my old job respected the fact that I need to have some time at home and don't want to live at my job. America sucks.
