Profits before people

When I was out running some last minute Christmas errands today, I decided to pop in to the thrift store. As I was perusing, I noticed everyone was coughing. Not just a cough here or there, but customers and workers alike were all in coughing fits. I felt a strange sensation in my throat, and then I couldn’t stop coughing. A worker approached me and said that their heating system wasn’t working properly, and was causing breathing issues in people. I noped out of there, but on my way out I asked the staff if they were planning on closing. They said they weren’t allowed to unless their district manager said it was okay. As we were having this conversation, a customer was leaving the store in respiratory distress, saying she was having trouble breathing. People literally were having respiratory issues, and they were still expected to work in unsafe conditions. My throat still hurts and it’s been three hours. Screw corporations.
