Food Lion Cutting Hours Despite Worker Shortage.

I have worked for Food Lion for about 6 months now. During my employment, I have steadily lost hours, originally getting about 30 a week. This week, I originally received a grand total of 0. Only after talking to my manager did I receive about 12. My manager then told me “to put it into perspective for you, I had 1,100 hours to distribute amongst about 50 front end workers however I saw fit, and now I have about 750 to distribute amongst 40. The only thing I can tell people who are looking to get more hours is to start looking for another job.” I shook his hand and quit. I think I did the right thing, but I don’t know where to go from here. I wasn’t making money there, but as of right now, I’m out of the job. I live in an area where the pickings…

I live in an area where the pickings are slim at best, and the holy grail of jobs is sheetz. Is this happening at other Food Lions, and if so, does anyone know why? It seems like grocery stores have been the only places receiving a steady revenue stream during the pandemic.
