Hello! I have a question. So currently I work from home with a company based out of one state. I live in a different state. I started as a temp and I am currently full time. I started out with the temp service making $19 an hour. While still working as a temp we were told by our manager and HR that everyone would be receiving a pay raise. They stated it would be based off of fair market increases. The questions was asked in a global meeting. Are other employees outside of the companies home state going to also be receiving this raise. This was a yes per management. Well there were employees who had gotten hired on before me and my group due to a contract that was in place. Fast forward to me and my group are hired on. We did not receive any pay raise. The people that got hired on before us and the people that got hired on after us both received the pay raise. Here’s where I am confused.
1st when I brought this up to management the first time they had stated that. “This raise was a cost of living increase that my state did not get” understandable if this was the truth. They had previously stated that this was a fair market increase due to other in the same field making more than we were.
The 2nd time I brought this up they stated it was only for employees of the home state that received this pay raise. This was also false as I had found other employees outside of the homes state that received the bonus.
Now they are saying it was an accounting error and me and my group and everyone behind me shouldn’t have gotten the raise. They stated they will not be fixing this moving forward.
Do I have any recourse?
All advice welcome. TIA!
