Really just sad. I don't know what to say honestly. I gave up a job with some people who I really enjoyed working with on the promise that this place had 5 years worth of work at an amazing salary with WFH. Today we got an email from HR about a teams meeting later in the day. We all got on and they just said “unfortunately everyone on this call will no longer work here after the 31st due to scope changes”. When asked if we had any questions I laid into them about how unethical it was to lure 29 people into these positions and then just let them go 5 months after their hire on date.
They apologized 100 times and then just ended the call. There were 29 of us let go today. Luckily I've been sitting on a back up the whole time as I had a gut feeling. It just sucks because I'm about to watch all of my expenses go up from this. I have to get a daycare for my son now, I'll have a commute (which is just costing me time), I'll probably have to give up my professional boxing career. A lot of things just fell through today and I feel defeated.
