I’m so fucking pissed right now,
I’ve been working to promotion for months, been told to just keep working at it, just keep pushing, just keep doing what I am doing.
Than, in speaking to someone earlier, a fellow employee that is not full time. I discovered she got to interview for the position.
I do very well at my job, have a good reputation and work my ass off.
There is no meritocracy in corporate America. Who is liked but not as skilled will always get the job over who is not liked but doubly, even triply qualified.
It’s just so disheartening, I feel trapped, I feel like all the work I put in over the years is moot..I’ve been thinking about starting my own self-ran business where I’m owner operator but have no idea where to start
I’m tired, I’m so fucking tired you guys. Sometimes I find it hard to wake up and find the strength to fake it, to fake love my occupation, to fake love all the meetings.. why can’t we just be honest- why do people have to have a grand ambition to be considered worthy? Why do people have to come up with a bullshit reason as to why they “love their job” for promotion when we all know we didn’t wake up as kids and say
“I want to be in the 9-5 world, working 40+ hours a week, doing some shit that nobody would like doing, and living check to check”
I gotta get this rant off my chest. It’s eating my alive and I’m trying to hang in as best I can guys. Fuck corporate America.
It’s not about skill, it’s about who you know. You can be less skilled and get the job if your liked more.
