My place of work is in Portland, Oregon which is a state that requires consent to record audio. They’ve recently installed ring cameras around the building, they’re also in a place where they can record audio from the customers as well as employees. We know they’re recording us because one of my coworker (who is a manager) was talking about quitting because of how they’re treating us and they came to talk to her about her statements against the company, they also told her they heard her through the cameras but told her not to tell anyone. I also talked shit about one of the owners and they gave me a write up for poor performance coincidentally the next day. It’s just wrong that they are retaliating because we talk like normal human beings about our place of work. It’s also extra sickening because they’re running a kids indoor play place where the kids of the customers are being recorded without their consent or knowledge. What should I do? It’s really disgusting that they would do this blatant invasion of privacy and I feel powerless against it.
