One of my team members had her father pass away, so I asked our HR department to arrange for flowers to be sent to the funeral. (This is something we commonly do for tragedies when they happen, nothing wild about this request.) The new HR manager gave me a lot of grief for asking for something “wasteful” like this, but in the end agreed to it, because she had to. Even provided the link for the obituary to them.
They sent the flowers for the funeral… with a “Get Well Soon” card attached. I give up.
