When I was in highschool I red a book called “Feed”.
From Wikipedia:
“Feed is a young adult dystopian novel of the cyberpunk subgenre written by M. T. Anderson. The novel focuses on issues such as corporate power, consumerism, information technology, data mining, and environmental decay, with a sometimes sardonic, sometimes somber tone.”
It basically ends with a kid trying to break the system by chaotically ordering random shit and canceling the orders, inputting weird ransoms search queries and the like.
I got to thinking, what if a large number of people just happened to start ordering super cheap items on Amazon/Walmart/Wish/etc and canceling the orders shortly after, even after getting a shipping confirmation.
Surely it would create some serious chaos on the servers, inventory management and shipping companies. Amazon's free returns would really eat into their bottom line.
Just a thought.
