Job doesn’t care about my safety

I'm a low-paid local journalist, and I have to often go to fires, car accidents, etc. I went to a fire recently, set up the camera far back from a gate at a gated community. The property manager briskly walks toward me yelling and cursing to get off the property, so I got the hell out of there regardless of if he was right. I send an email to staff saying what happened, and I drove away. I get a call from my manager asking if I was on the property, to which I explained that I didn't feel safe because of the high-intensity confrontation. They pressured me to go back and film from across the street. I feel so disrespected and helpless that my safety isn't a consideration at this often-dangerous job. This is all coinciding with anxiety that has been getting worse the past few years I've worked…

I love the energy of this sub and how respect is prioritized. I feel crazy sometimes at this office where everyone around me are young, bright-eyed, bushy-tailed journalists who will do anything for boss's approval. I just want to buy groceries and be happy. Thanks all.
