If we were to base minimum wage off a percentage of something, what would it be?

(I'm sorry if this is off topic but this feels like the best sub to ask this question. Feel free to delete if it breaks rule 3) I think the best solution to fixing our current issue with minimum wage is to base how much we get payed off of how much a certain thing costs. For example, if said thing costed 200 dollars and we were paid 20% of how much that costs, we'd get paid 40 dollars an hour. And even if that thing went up to cost like 600 dollars, our minimum wage would go up to 120 dollars an hour, meaning we'd always be getting paid enough. Now the big question is, what would the thing that decides our pay be?
