Edit: I'm aware that prorating based on timeframe is normal, or makes sense, my problem is not with my bonus being too low, my problem is my supervisor told be I would be receiving a certain amount of money, and I received significantly less than that amount
If you've seen National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, you know where this is going.
I generally enjoy my job, I work for a medical manufacturer and we've been especially busy due to covid. Overall I've really liked feeling like my work has had an impact. The downside of this is that we've been working extra hours to keep up with customer needs. We've had between 10 and 20 hours of overtime every week this year so far. Everyone on my line is absolutely exhausted and morale was getting low, but we were all excited because our company is known for good bonuses on the first paycheck in March.
Last week, our supervisor spoke with us each individually about our pay raises and bonuses. My pay raise was about 3 percent, so definitely a disappointment, but I couldn't be mad about it when I heard the bonus, between the hour pay bonus and target bonus it's about 10 percent of my yearly income.
Pay day arrives and everyone checks their banking apps to look at it, everybody is thrilled except for myself and the person before me on the line.
800 for the target bonus, that adds up, and for the hour bonus, the big one…
300 dollars, 300 fucking dollars.
I go speak to my supervisor, assuming there's some error. It turns out since I've only been there since August, my bonus was “prorated” and my supervisor missed that part of the email about the bonuses. No apology, no sympathy, just that he missed it and I should have the same email somewhere.
I'm really not sure where to go from here, I'm meeting with a plant manager about my career path here on Wednesday but I'm getting kind of tired of dealing with this place, this is not the only issue I've had here.
Edit: a big reason this is such a problem is because I just moved apartments, and the other people here are physically violent to each other, and I was going to use the money from this bonus to move again, because I had to use most of my saved up funds to move here
