Advice About Switching Jobs

TLDR: Thinking about switching jobs to a job I'd love to do with less pay, but boss offered me a promotion that's been dangled in front of me for months. They are asking how much I'd be paid at new position to assess my raise. Throwaway account so Walgreens can't find me, obviously. I've been working for Walgreens for about 4 years now and am currently a Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician. I know the ins and outs of this pharmacy- from which patients are our regulars, to which medications are in stock and need to be ordered, to billing each insurance. If the training technicians have a question, they either come to me or the pharmacist. I've been at this particular store for almost a year now after having transferred from another state and have very quickly made myself known as reliable, repsonsible, and knowledgeable.

I live in the Chicagoland area and make $19 an hour with full benefits- medical, dental, vision, a Roth retirement plan. I've been promised numerous times to get a promotion that would lead to a (hopefully) significant raise to Pharmacy Operations Manager. I'd basically be doing the exact same work I'm doing now, but actually getting paid for it. I've been on my boss's ass about it since it was first mentioned when I transferred in.

I've been looking at jobs, though, because it's never come. I received an offer letter to be an assistant teacher at a private school for $15 an hour with full benefits. Which isn't a lot, but I've been wanting to be a teacher for years. I love my job most days, but being a teacher is actually my “dream job.” This job would offer me the ability to get my teacher's license if I stay with it, but the pay cut is significant.

I told my boss I received an offer letter, but did not tell her about the wage decrease. She told me she'd talk to her boss about getting me set up as RxOM, and offhandedly asked about my starting wage. I didn't mention it. I'm set to sign the acceptance letter on Tuesday. Should I wait and reschedule, or jump headfirst into a new position knowing my promotion may never come?
