I was an idiot and accepted less money to work in an abusive environment

So I worked as a kitchen porter for a long time in a hotel on a seasonal contract. I have a couple disabilities that can make working in a kitchen hard (aspergers and dyspraxia) and I will be the first to admit I'm not a perfect employee. Well the hotel came under new management in my last season and the manager was in a tough spot, due to the hotels rural location getting staff is rough.

He was working 18 hours a day 7 days a week, that is stressful. Well as I was the one in the kitchen with him I got turned into the workplace punch bag. Every small issue was somehow my fault. Some were genuinely mistakes i had made in cleaning missing some streaks on plates, but some were just infuriating.

He has the cleaning lady cover my days off, she would put dishes and the like away in the wrong place, she didnt know as the manager wouldnt say a word to her, instead when I would come in the shift after her, I got given all the shit and he was confused as to how I put all the things in the wrong place.

The manager would bitch about members of staff to other members of staff, all of them to everyone. Apparently I was the only one who knew that as everyone would bitch about everyone else to the manager like they were the only one he complained to. The whole place became a mess.

I spoke to my manager one day about the issues I was having and how what could be done, most of that conversation was simply I had to be better and how he expected more for £10 an hour (UK minimum wage was £8.91 at the time) this is where I made my fuck up, I agreed to lower my wage and to noones surprise nothing changed.

Moral of the story, even if you are just shit at your job dont every think taking less means you'll be treated better.
