I have a dear friend in Spain (Andalucía) who recently became disable. She had to undergo surgery and sadly, she cannot work as a nurse anymore. She started working as a nurse after a short two-years long course that was 100% free. No debt. Four years later she bought her own house, the mortgage is around €300 (Less than 30% of her mortgage) Now that she’s disabled, she’s entitled to disability benefits of around 60% of her salary FOR LIVE. On top of that, because of a law I don’t understand, her mortgage is now forgiven. And her workplace offered her a job as admin for the same pay, happily taking care of all the accommodations and telling her to take “as much months as she needs” Meanwhile in my country, disable people are practically excluded from every job search, get benefits that only cover for some groceries, and are…

Meanwhile in my country, disable people are practically excluded from every job search, get benefits that only cover for some groceries, and are immediately fired from their jobs. I’m legally disable because of PTSD, yet I still keep this information for myself because people would look down on me
