Got to work this morning and was pulled aside by my boss and given two weeks notice. I recently moved to the area with my young family (9 month old and another due in May) left the job I had been at for 5 years. He had two jobs advertised, one as a labourer and one as a experienced carpenter/supervisor. I was honest with him and applied for the labourers role as I believed I fit that better at this point in time. He decided to hire me as a carpenter with labouring roles in my job description which I was happy with and planned to train me into a supervisor over the next 6 months. I have been working for him for 5 weeks now, All has been going well, all the work I have done has been to a high standard and I’m always getting things done within the allocated times. His reasons for sacking me were #1 I’m not experienced enough (no shit that’s why I applied for the labourers role) #2 I made a comment about not wanting to dig up a slab which means I mustn’t be enjoying the work (it was a fuckin joke) #3 I’m asking the apprentice plumber what to do when I should be telling him what to do (yeah I’m asking him because he knows more about plumbing than I do).
Everything he wants done carpentry wise is so specific and over the top (fuckin plumbers aye) but I’ve taken the time to learn how he wants it done and just do it his way. I don’t know how he expects to find a carpenter who will work on his shit wages but has 15 years experience.
So basically what should I do? Suck it up and finish the 2 weeks or tell him to shove his shit job up his tight ass.
Rant over. Cheers!
