can I do anything about salary discrepancies and unfair pay structure (UK)?

It came to my attention that I'm earning around 8% less than my peers, on account of them having started their roles at a time when base salaries were higher and my salary hasn't increased consistently (overall approx. 2%) since I've been in my role. To clarify: I've been in my current role since 2018 and they joined in 2020 and 2021 respectively. My salary increase hasn't kept up with theirs. How do I being this up to management? When I tried to have an informal talk with my line manager, I've been told not to discuss salaries and that was the end of the conversation. She has since left the business and I went on maternity leave without leaving a formal complaint or request to disclose reasons for the salary discrepancy.

This company prides itself on transparency and fairness so I was pretty devastated when I found out about this and now that my compensation review is coming up I'd like to speak up.
