Don’t fall into the middle manager trap like I did.

For 13 years I’ve been a middle manger at a company. I’ve seen that company grow from 60 to 130 employees, and is still growing. In this time I’ve expanded my education, completed certifications and taken on roles not really linked to my job. I worked closely with the old site manager and learned a lot about the business thinking when he retired I’d be considered. Only when he retired for the owners to hire someone with little to no knowledge of the site. Come to find out this guy comes from some money and has political connections in an area the company serves. So again don’t fall into the same trap I did. No matter how hard you work, study or go the extra mile they already have next level promotion picked out and it likely isn’t you. Just quiet quit, don’t go above and beyond. Do what you…

Do what you need to keep your job and nothing else, and always keep an eye out for new openings. Loyalty means nothing to your company, so it should mean nothing to you..
