This article rubbed me the wrong way. It talks about how people are having to turn to BNPL (buy-now-pay-later – ie. Affirm, Klarna, etc.) in order to buy groceries. Regulators' response is basically, “we need to regulate the BNPL industry so people don't do that.”
HOW ABOUT YOU ADDRESS THE FACT THAT PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD BASIC NECESSITIES?!
The solution isn't regulating the BNPL industry: the solution is to make basic necessities a guaranteed right so that people DON'T HAVE TO USE BNPL!
