So I never hated my job, and I've always been paid well.
After a strong year, in my mind, I'm given a “meets expectations” and a less than 1.5% raise in December. Told I make “too much for your position” so there's nothing to do.
Do some job hunting and find another position that pays more, and I submit my resignation. Everyone seems surprised and they try to get me to stay, but still no commitment to a raise.
I forgot I signed a non-compete about two years ago, and they have decided they are looking to enforce this document and have informed me I cannot work for with my new employer for three months (total non-compete is 6 months, so only partial enforcement).
So the money they “couldn't” give me in a raise, is now going to pay me to stay at home?
Can anyone help me make sense of this craziness?
