Getting a job is now much more harder than 40 years ago. Back then like 10 applications and one 10 Minute interview were enough to land a job. Nowadays you have to send 100 or 200 applications – go through 3 or 4 interview rounds – do some tests etc.
The requirements for a job are now much greater than 40 years ago. Back then it was enough to have HS most of the time. Nowadays most jobs require Bachelors or even Masters, several languages, extra qualifications etc.
Getting a degree is much more harder than 40 years ago. The costs were like 1/10 or 1/5 of what they are now – and you had to learn and do far less tests than today.
Living from (minimum) wage was much easier back then. Allthough we earn like 5x of what we earned 40 years ago – everything has gotten 10x more expensive.
Work stress is much larger than 40 years ago. People today are doing the job you needed 2-3 people for 40 years ago – there are deadlines, expectation to work 24/7 etc.
We are more productive than ever – yet everything is harder than ever. This cant be right.
