Got fired for discussing wages

I just remember this happened a bit ago, right at the start of the pandemic when I had gotten laid off. I was job hunting and as a college kid naturally took anything available if it paid at least minimum wage. I got an offer to be a barista at a little coffee shop near my place. The verbal agreement was $15 at full time. I get to my “training” shift, and find out I’m just supposed to be working. I had never made a drink before! I get to work, and everything was filthy. I cleaned the espresso machine and it obviously hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. One coworker was cutting food above the dish washing sink, literally with the cutting board perched on the dirty dishes. There was mold on the sink! I was absolutely horrified and I cleaned as much as I could. At one point a coworker came to ask me how I was doing and I said the work kinda sucks but the pay is decent. She is incredulous, asks how much I’m making. “$15, why?” She stormed off, and 20 minutes later the owner came back screaming at me that my wage was never $15, it was $13.50 like everyone else and that I would be fired if I talked about wages again. Side note: I hadn’t even signed paperwork yet. I’m terrified, so I just finish my shift and leave. I never hear back from them, except to come pick up my check for those hours. I’m genuinely surprised that they paid me at all. I’d be happy to drag them by name but I don’t want to get in trouble with this sub
