Employer “forgot” to withhold local taxes. Now I owe $1,500 to the Fed. Is it appropriate to go off on my former employer?

I am livid and am taking to this sub to vent. I worked in low-level operations for this mega charter school network for 9 months in 2021 before I hit my breaking point working 70 hour weeks for a soulless, incompetent boss who lacked proper training to run a school. I was crying in closets, forced to work on weekends (outside of contracted hours), etc. Leaving was the right decision and now I have a much better job that I actually enjoy. Anyway, when I got my W-2s from this ex-employer this year, I noticed my wages were underreported and I reached out to their HR team. Anyway, when I got my W-2s from this ex-employer this year, I noticed my wages were underreported and I reached out to their HR team. Turns out they misreported my earnings by $15k and issued me a new W-2C. I had an accountant look it over and he pointed out that there was nothing reported for local tax withholdings. I reached out to HR again, and they pretty much told me “whoops. The Operations Manager must’ve forgot to withhold when doing your onboarding paperwork. That sucks for you! Sorry!” I know exactly whose fault it was (my former soulless boss) and I want to send her a scathing email letting her know that because of her lack of attention to detail and incompetence, I now face economic hardship paying back $1,500 to the government—$1,500 which was supposed to be withheld by her! UGH! I am so angry. That’s three months’ worth of rent for me, and I was really counting on this tax refund to buy my partner an engagement ring. Would it be overly reactionary and uncalled for to send my ex-boss an email giving her comeuppance?
