Quit my laboratory job today

Worked at a very understaffed laboratory in a hospital and just landed a new job that starts in 3 months in another state. I miss having dinners with my gf and want to spend as much time with her as possible as she will not be joining me for a few years. Told the director I was putting in my two-week notice and she said “no,” lol. She asked when my next job was starting and didn't understand why I was quitting “so soon.” I offered to stay on till the end of April if they doubled my wage and she wouldn't do that. They got no problem paying travel workers that much but won't pay someone locally that much. Made sure my co-workers knew that I offered to stay through April for them to find a replacement and that they just didn't want to pay me what I am…

I enjoy working hard and I know it's going to take more than one person to replace the volume that I completed per shift. They already gave PTO to two people the first week that I am going to be gone without filling their shifts. I won't take a penny less than doubling my previous wage when they realize how screwed they are. It's a win-win for me either way.
