I am new here and love the anti-work movement. But I am actually working as the bad guy, a corporate exec with high salary and stock options. Everyday I work makes me a hypocrite. With kids about to leave for college, I have the money and will to make a difference. I am originally from Asia and live a frugal life naturally. My parents live a great life in rural south India on $250 a month. I backpacked Asia for $25 a day and had a blast. This is all we need, food, shelter, sex and beer. Learning is a lifelong process. I got my degree in India for $2000 for a 4 year Mechanical engineering degree that was recognized by UW Wisconsin to do my masters in Computers. So why are Americans paying hundreds of thousands to get a degree?
Here is a list of ideas
- Off-shore your education – get a degree from Asia , Africa for $2500, living and learning there for 4 years
- Live in hostel type setting doing high value work (coding, data analytics, nutritional consulting, financial advisor etc)
- Set up anti work communes, not quite hippie communes, but a place to sleep , common kitchen, gardens and work 10 best hours a week making $500 a week.
I would love to open a hostel, co-working / co-living places where anyone can live large on $1000 a month. We educate and share skills freely with each other. Will this work? Is there a market for this? I just don't want to throw away my money.
