I work in a physical therapy office. The only staff outside of the 4 PTs are me and the front desk manager. She works 8-5. When she’s done it’s only me until 8pm doing all of the pt aide work as well as the front desk reception/scheduling.
Any time she’s even been out sick it’s been on me to come in and cover. It’s stressful. But it was manageable BEFORE we merged with a larger company.
Back in September 22, we merged and immediate scheduling changes happened.
The PTs are now being told industry standard is 3-4 patients per hour. We’re getting busy and I’m still the only evening staff who is struggling to handle the front desk and provide adequate support to the PTs. I’ve been told we’re being watched. They’re tracking our phonecalls and asking why so many calls ring to voicemail. It’s because I’m in the back assisting patients.
But “the phone needs to be answered” yes but I do r have the ability to answer it if I’m putting heat and stim on a patient.
I’m getting burnt out and I need a vacation. But how exactly am I supposed to take one with no other staff???
We’ve all complained about this to upper management. They’re still not making it a priority to get more support staff
