At my job, you get a point every time you call off, no call no shows are 2 points. Now, it used to be at the supervisor's discretion whether or not you were pointed. This was changed at the beginning of the year, and all the supes were told they had to point every calloff regardless of reason why. This is all pretty standard for a lot of companies, right?
Well, here's where it gets tricky. Not only did our previous supe NOT point anyone for calling off (again, supervisor discretion so he didn't have to), HR is now going to comb through everyone's hours to see who called off and when so they can be pointed. Can they even do this? How can the employees be punished over our old supervisor following workplace policy?
So my question, if not obvious, can they do this? Can we be pointed for calloffs that happened months back before the policy change? If it helps, I work in Ohio, and we have UAW protection, even though the contract is still being negotiated.
