My boyfriend was required and expected to work a 21 hour shift, sleep for 3 hours, and get back to work at 6:00 a.m. for another 10 hour shift.

And he said NO and I couldn't be more proud. First off… he drives a company vehicle. Hello that kind of work schedule reeks of liability issues (oh, it was a 30 minute drive back and forth, so x4 that's two hours of driving on the above 3 hour sleep schedule. Second… that is a staffing issue; if a company is requiring its workers to do overtime/on-call, FINE, but you need to let them REST before requiring a normal 10 hour work day, especially when the job itself requires power tools, machinery, etc. Hire more workers to allow the others to recuperate! And the worst part? My boyfriend went back to school during COVID, specifically for a new career, has been working for a few months… and is paid less than the new hires who have zero work or school/training experience.
