Just had an epiphany while reading through the contract at my new job. They have a clause that I have also ran across in the past and never paid much attention to. The clause is that anything you post on your personal social media accounts that they do not like can be cause for termination. They require that your posts contain “This is my personal opinion and not a reflection of my employers views”.
My thought is that you post positive things and then end with This is my personal opinion and not a reflection of my employers view. Some examples include a “I think slavery is bad. This is my personal opinion and not a reflection of my employers view.” and “genocide is horrible. This is my personal opinion and not a reflection of my employers view.” Bonus points if you tag their company social media accounts so that you know they see it and are forced into potential pr nightmares. Maybe after enough hole digging they might consider revising that policy. You are posting a positive message and complying with their awful policies allowing them to control what you can do when outside of work.
