I took on a new role last March with one of my dream companies. The ad on LinkedIn was posted directly by the company. I had a long interview process with the VP and Directors of my department, and was made a job offer. I was then told that I would be classed as an agency worker under a staffing agency and not directly employed. I felt like i'd been mislead but accepted it because it said 'intention to convert to perm' after one year.
In December last year I was told i'd been approved to come on as a full time employee in January. I was told i'd receive an email from HR with my employee portal login and that they were so excited to have me come on. I stopped worrying about money so much and bought a car and got into other financial commitments.
Last week, I was told by HR after hearing nothing since January that the decision to convert me was being reverted. They want to keep me as a contractor for another year. I really want to leave as I want to progress and become more senior in the role i'm in now, and I can't, but I don't have a backup and the money is good. What should I do?
